Virgil was born on January 30, 1948 in Canton, Illinois to Henry and Ella Mae (Weaver) Anderson. They preceded him in death. Virgil attended Canton High school, and he married Leigh Ann (Scalf) Anderson on July 3, 1971. He joined the Army and served from 1969 to 1973 in Vietnam. He then worked as a spot-welder for Navistar for 30 years. She preceded him in death on July 27, 2021. Virgil was a member of the Canton American Legion, and the Canton Elks Lodge.
He is survived by his son, Mike Anderson of Canton, Illinois; one grandchild Jace (Madison) Anderson of Virden, Illinois. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Leigh Ann, two brothers, and one sister.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, May 19, 2026 with a visitation one hour prior at Sedgwick Funeral Homes in Canton Illinois, with a burial at White Chapel Memorial Gardens in Canton, Illinois.
