Susan V. Richardson

Susan V. Richardson, 96, of Havana, passed away at her home, Saturday, May 16, 2026, at 4:07 p.m. She was born to John Franklin Towery and Susan Virginia (Garner) Towery, on February 19, 1930, in Havana. She married Paul “Chuck” Richardson, on May 28, 1948. He passed away on February 17, 2020.

Susan worked as a legal secretary all of her life, first for Kenneth Lemmer, and then for Eldon Becker, before retirement. She enjoyed both bowling and golfing.

Susan is survived by her daughter: Jan (John) Michaels, and her son; Douglas (Julie) Richardson; her grandchildren: Matthew Richardson, Brad (Tonya) Richardson, Brock (Lindsay) Richardson, Brendon (Sam) Richardson, Nerissa (Mike) McClelland; many great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Chuck; her son Jeffery (Valerie) Richardson; and grandson, Bryce Richardson. Also preceding her in death are her brothers: Hubert Towery, Lee Roy Towery, Earl Towery, William Towery, Joe Towery, John Towery, Paul Towery, and Richard Towery; sisters: Maggie Mibb, Dora Pratt, Minnie Birchfield, Bessie Towery, and Mary Servis.

There will be no visitation. Graveside services for both Susan and Chuck will be held at Laurel Hill Cemetery at a later date, with Fr. Dante Anglin presiding.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the donor’s choice.

Hurley Funeral Home, in Havana, is assisting Susan’s family with funeral arrangements.
