Lois "Lavonne" Rushing

Lois “Lavonne” Rushing, 83, of Elmwood, passed away at 4:55 p.m., on Thursday, June 1, 2023, at Courtyard Estates in Farmington. She was born on May 6, 1940, in rural Laura, IL, to Lloyd Libby and Florence (Kauffman) Oakes.

She married the love of her life, Elmer Robert “Bob” Rushing, on August 17, 1958. He preceded her in death on September 21, 2017.

She is survived by two daughters, Bobbi and Lori; one son, Eric (Lisa); one brother, Rick (Cindy) Libby; two grandchildren, Jarrod (Amber) Holmes and Alaina Holmes; one step-grandchild, Kayla (Conners) McMenamin; three great-grandchildren, Ethan, Erica, and Elijah Holmes; and one step-great-grandchild, Iris McMenamin.

She is also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Ronald “Sonny” Camp and Ross Gibson; two sisters, Marilyn Fulk and Susan Burbridge; and one grandchild, Jacob Holmes.

Lavonne was a Bank Teller at Farmers State Bank for 28 years. She was a lifetime member of the Maple Lane Shady Ladies. She also volunteered for M.A.N.N.A. meals and the Strawberry Festival. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Elmwood.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 8, 2023, at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Elmwood. A visitation will be held the same day prior to the service from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Cremation rites will follow and a private burial of ashes will be held at a later date at Elmwood Township Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Elmwood United Methodist Church and the Alzheimer’s Association.
