Canton – Vivian C. Hubbard, 96, of Canton, IL, passed away on Thursday, January 4, 2018 at Clayberg Nursing Home. She was born on July 24, 1921 in Fairbury, IL to Dan and Nellie (Baker) Metz. She married George W. Hubbard Jr. on September 13, 1944 in LaSalle County, he preceded her in death on July 27, 2012.
Vivian was also preceded in death by her parents, one son, David Hubbard, and two brothers, Wally and Gene Metz.
Surviving are two sons, John (Carol) Hubbard of Dunfermline, and Tom (Carol) Hubbard of Chandler, AZ; four grandchildren, Nathan (Becky) Hubbard, Emily (Dennis) Bowers, Judson (Kari) Hubbard, and Thaddeus (Elizabeth) Hubbard; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Vivian graduated from Long Point High School, and later graduated from Methodist Hospital School of Nursing. She worked as a registered nurse and was also co-owner of Hubbard Insurance for several years. Vivian was a member of First Christian Church in Canton, IL. Early in her life she enjoyed being a nurse before starting their family. She also enjoyed needlework, taking family vacations to Minnesota and gardening.
Services will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at Sedgwick Funeral Homes & Crematory in Canton, IL, where a visitation will be from 10-11 AM. Pastor Ben Williamson will officiate. Burial will follow the services at Greenwood Cemetery in Canton, IL. Memorials can be made to the Susan B. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
