Glen Phillips
Canton - Glen Phillips, 70, of Canton, passed away Tuesday, January 23, 2018 surrounded by his family at the O.S.F. Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria.
He was born on July 2, 1947 to Vernon Maxwell and Verlena Mae (Winship) Phillips. They proceeded him in death.
He married Vicki (Dowell) on May 29, 1976 at the First Christian Church in Canton. She survives.
Also surviving is one Daughter, Cara Phillips, of Dunlap Illinois.
Glen attended Western Illinois University, graduating in 1969. He started his teaching career at VIT for three years. He then taught at Canton Ingersoll Middle School for 31 years retiring in 2002. Glen was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Canton and was a volunteer for the full time Canton Fire Department. Glen was one of the first 8 staff members to open the Wilderness Camp under the Creve Coeur council. He loved model railroading, metal working, computers, music and his cats. Most of all he was a devoted husband, father and friend.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday January 27, 2018 at the First Christian Church in Canton at 10 a.m. A burial will be held immediately following the service at White Chapel Memory Gardens in Canton.
There will be a Celebration of Life held later that evening at 5 p.m. at the Canton Ingersoll Middle School.
Memorials may be made to the family for a memorial at the Ingersoll Scout Reservation in London Mills, or to the O.S.F. Richard L. Owens Hospice Home.
