Patricia G. “Patty” Widger, of Herod, Illinois, formerly of Canton, passed away on Monday, January 15, 2018 at her residence in Davenport, Florida. She was born on October 13, 1959 in Peoria, IL, a daughter of Ray and Francis (Kauzlarich) Hartle. She married Timothy Allen Widger on August 13, 1977 in Canton. He survives.
Also surviving is her mother Francis; two sons, Nick (Jill) Widger; Cole (Melissa) Widger both of Canton, seven grandchildren, Karen, Megan, Allison, Dylan Autumn, Treyton and Daxton; three brothers, Danny Hartle of Savannah, Tennessee, Bernie Hartle and George Hartle, both of Canton; one sister, Marianne Pilkington of St. David.
Patricia was preceded in death by her father and one brother, Jerome “Rommy” Hartle.
She received her Associate Degree from Spoon River College in Canton, then her Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from Western Illinois University graduating Magna Cum Laude, and finally receiving her Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Illinois. She worked for more than 20 years as a Social Worker for the State of Illinois, and was a Clinical Social worker or the State of Illinois and State of Tennessee.
Patricia was a past member of Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in Canton, she cared for everyone she met over the years, while working and traveling, and she dearly loved her family, best friend, Cindy, and her beloved dogs.
Funeral services will be at 6:00 PM on Thursday, January, 25, 2018 at Sedgwick Funeral Homes & Crematory in Canton, where visitation will be from 4:00 PM until time of services.
