Kenneth “Kenny” L. List
Canton – Kenneth “Kenny” L. List, 82, of Canton, passed away on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at his home after losing his battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born on August 1, 1935 in Orion Township, the son of William and Martha (Nee Waechter) List. Kenny married Dixie Settles on September 12, 1958 at South Park Methodist Church in Canton.
Surviving are his wife, Dixie of Canton, IL; one daughter, Kenise List of Bradley, IL; one grandchild, Nicole (Chris) Lothson of Lake Villa, IL; one sister, Thelma Lewis of Pekin, IL; one brother, Leland “Lee” List of Brereton, IL; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents; two sons, Billy Joe and Mark List; four brothers, Fred, William, Paul, and Delbert Eugene List; and four sisters, Margie Barclay, Charity Quenon, Mary Stout, and Lela Booth.
Kenny was a self-taught mechanic who eventually owned his own garage, List Auto Service, from 1968 to 2017 where he enjoyed shooting the breeze with his customers and friends. He was also Road Commissioner of Orion Township from 1977 to 1992 during which time he was instrumental in building many of the bridges in the township.
You could often see Kenny’s truck parked outside of Brown’s Snappy Service, where he frequently ate his breakfast and lunch and got the “news” for the day.
Kenny was also a lover of nature and animals. He enjoyed raising his cattle, feeding the birds, watching the deer, and spoiling his dogs. But his greatest enjoyment of all was spending time with his granddaughter who was his “best buddy”.
Services will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, January 20, 2017 at Sedgwick Funeral Homes & Crematory in Canton, where a visitation will be held from 9-11 AM. Rev. Kevin VanTine will officiate. Burial will follow the services at Greenwood Cemetery in Canton. Memorials can be made to Fulton County Humane Society.
