Rhonda McCollum

Rhonda McCollum, 65, of Canton, passed away at 2:58 AM on December 31, 2025 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Champaign, Illinois. She was born on September 27,1960 in Chicago, Illinois, a daughter of Lu and Gladys McCollum.

Rhonda moved to Star Care in 2017. From that moment she became so much more than a resident. Rhonda’s presence in the room brought music, laughter, and singing. Rhonda loved to be in the middle of all the energy. In a world that was not always perfect for Rhonda, she showed a steadfast will. If she didn’t want to do something there were very few that could change her mind. When Rhonda loved you, she let you know. She gave the best sugars and always told staff she loved them. Rhonda would ask for her friends to be brought around her so that she could play her tambourine and sing for them. Rhonda’s love for music was fun, classic and always energized, making all around her get into a fun mood. You could hear staff saying, “shake it Rhonda”. Her love for Tina Turner, Elvis, all the classics. One of her favorites was Proud Mary. Once you seen and heard Rhonda play her tambourine and sing, you could never hear the song without forever remembering Rhonda. We were blessed to have this perfectly unperfect soul in our lives. Rhonda would tell stories of her siblings. Giving a small glimpse of growing up and the love she felt for her family. She loved her momma’s fried chicken. Rhonda touched more lives with her being her than most will ever experience. We lost our grandma, jive turkey, “babysitter”, we lost a little bit of our hearts. But heaven gained a new member to the choir with tambourines.

Cremation rites will be accorded through Sedgwick Funeral Homes & Crematory. A celebration of life gathering/memorial visitation will be held from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM on Wednesday, January 28, 2026 at Sedgwick Funeral Homes & Crematory. Terry C. Williams

Terry C. Williams, 64, of Canton passed away on Thursday, January 22, 2026, at Sunset Rehabilitation Center. He was born on November 26th, 1961 in Canton to Leroy and Coralie (Willson)Williams, they preceded him in death along with his step father Richard Harkness who raised him. Also preceding him in death were his son Jared “Jare Bear” Williams, brothers Danny, Lanny and Joey Williams, Debbie ‘Burrows’ Williams his first wife and mother to his older boys and brother-in-law Harry Rumler.

He is survived by his oldest son Jake Williams of Canton and granddaughter Tinleigh of St. Charles, Travis Williams of Canton and grandson Trenten along with sister Lori Rumler of Canton and niece Jessica (Wesley) Kimbrough and great niece and nephew Brooklyn and Bostyn, nephew Joey (Sarah) Rumler of Pekin and great nephew Bryson as well as brother Shawn Harkness (Jen) of Huntington IN and great nephews and great niece Andy (Shelby) Harkness and family, Shelby (Jake) Hansen and family and Brady Harkness all of Indiana along with niece Charity (Tovi) Beoletto of Farmington and great nephew and niece Tovin and Trulee. Also surviving are a maternal aunt Rosalee Doherty of California and Paternal uncle Ronnie Harkness of London Mills.

Terry was a lover of all types of music and could be found humming and singing tunes of any kind of music and often times dancing too. He had a love for motorcycles and motorcycle memorabilia and also was a collector of pocket knives. Terry didn’t know a stranger and could carry on a conversation with anyone. He had a deep love for his family and was a lover of life and lived every day to its fullest.

Memorial service to be held at a later date. Oaks-Hines Funeral Home and Crematory in Canton is in charge of cremation rites. A burial of his ashes will be held at White Chapel Memory Gardens.

Shelba J. Franklin

Cuba- Shelba J. Franklin, 87, of Cuba passed away at 6:27 AM Saturday January 24, 2026 at the home of her son.

She was born October 31, 1938 at Canton the daughter of John F. and Mable (Steele) Taylor. She first married Willis Archdale and later married Bill Franklin. Surviving are four children, Thomas Archdale of Cuba, Jeff Archdale of Lewistown, Tim Archdale of Cuba, and Carol Swanson of LeRoy, one sister, Wanda Mae Estrada of Utah, 12 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, three brothers, and two sisters.

Shelba was retired and had worked as a CNA for Clayberg Nursing Home and Graham Hospital. She loved and cherished her children and grandchildren.

Rick Jett

Ricky A. Jett, 67, of Norris, passed away on Thursday, January 22, 2026 at his residence.

He was born on January 8, 1959 in Canton to Gary and Norma (Jenkins) Jett. They preceded him in death.

Surviving is his significant other, Debra Schraub, two children, Jeremy (Brandy) Jett, Jessica (Matt) Fluder, one brother, Donald “Dean” (Heather) Jett, two sisters, Terry (Guy) Reith, Kim (Larry) Murphy and six grandchildren, Katherine, Brooklyn, Julianna, Adalynn, Brycen and Brynlee.

Ricky worked as a mechanic at Jett’s Kawasaki in Canton retiring in 2012. He was a motorcycle enthusiast, enjoyed dune buggies, music and tinkering on all of his toys. He could easily be found doing mechanical work at his house to help out his friends and family. He and Debbie would spend weekends at his camper at the Fulton County Conservation Area.

Cremation rites have been accorded in accordance with his wishes through Oaks-Hines Funeral Home and Crematory in Canton. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date. An update will be posted when the schedule has been set.

James F. Mistic

James F. Mistic, 64, of Canton, passed away on January 21, 2026 at his residence. He was born on August 18, 1961 in Canton to Frank and Lila (Pyle) Mistic. Jim married Tina Slaight on July 21, 2007 in Canton. She survives along with three children; Mandy (Justin) Wedig of Washington, IL, Kyle (Alyssa) Dirksen of Canton and Cory (Elizabeth McClay) Dirksen of St. David, two brothers; Dan (Helen) Mistic of Texas and Mark Mistic of East Peoria, one sister Patty (Mick) Davis of Peoria and three grandchildren; Sophie, Brennan and Mackensie Wedig.

Jim worked at Caterpillar Incorporated. He was an outdoorsman, loved fishing, and his dogs. He enjoyed old Western and Bruce Lee movies.

Kathleen A. McCarthy

Kathleen A. McCarthy, 68, of Canton, passed away on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at Graham Hospital in Canton.

She was born on March 14, 1957, in Champaign, Illinois, to Charles and Barbara (Jackson) McCarthy. They preceded her in death.

Surviving is her brother, Charles (Debbie) McCarthy of Canton; one niece, Megan (John) Goss of Denver, Colorado; and one nephew, Michael (Brittany) McCarthy of Tega Cay, South Carolina.

Kathleen worked for Fulton County Abstract for several years, later for Farmington Bank, and retired from Morton Community Bank. She was an avid animal lover and devoted her heart and support to family, friends, and the community. Kathleen was also a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Canton.

Cremation rites have been accorded in accordance with her wishes through Oaks-Hines Funeral Home and Crematory in Canton. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Misty R. “Mimi” Vaughn

Misty R. “Mimi” Vaughn, 50, of Lewistown, passed away at 1:05 AM on Thursday, January 22, 2026 at OSF Medical Center in Peoria, IL. She was born on September 20, 1975 in Canton, IL, to Leonard and Roberta (Rowley) Vaughn.

She is survived by three brothers, Timothy (Vera) Vaughn, Robert (Dawn) Vaughn, and Jason (Brittany) Vaughn; one sister, Christine (Floyd) Deushane; and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

Mimi was an avid Green Bay Packer fan. She also enjoyed the outdoors and spending time with her family.
