Sheila Kay Allard Shawgo

Sheila Kay Allard Shawgo, 64, of Fairview, passed away, Monday, March 3, 2025, at Graham Hospital in Canton.

She was born in Canton, to Larry and Patricia (Bishop) Allard.

Sheila married Kevin Shawgo on April 20, 2013. He preceded her in death on December 17, 2022.

She is survived by two daughters, Chelsie (Dalton Kitchen) Allard, and Kentricia (Kyle) Burgard, one brother Bobby (Alexis) Allard, and two sisters, Larri Ann (Danny) Daughtery, and Dawn (the late Tim) Uryasz, three grandchildren, Paige (Cooper Bach) McCoy, Jarrett (Ashayla Brown) McCoy, and Skyler Burgard, and one great granddaughter, Naomi Kay McCoy.

She is preceded in death by her father Larry, husband Kevin, three brothers, Bret, John, and Ravfe Allard, and one sister, Sue Wilson.

Sheila was the kitchen manager at American Grille in Canton for numerous years. She enjoyed hosting and cooking for her family for holidays and gatherings, baking, camping, reading and gardening. Sheila loved her grandkids and enjoyed taking them to the zoo, and she enjoyed going for motorcycle rides with her husband. Her family could always count on her to watch her grand pups and grand cats. Most of all Sheila loved spending time with her family.

A memorial service will be held at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton on Thursday, March 6, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will immediately follow the services at Foster Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to FCRC or Fulton County Humane Society.

Donald E. Bennett

Donald E. Bennett, 91, of Canton, formerly of St. David, passed away at 12:42 am, February 28, 2025 at the Renaissance Care Center in Canton. He was born on April 24, 1933 in Canton to Edgar B. and Dorothy M. (Huggins) Bennett.

Surviving are six children; Deborah (Rick) Miller of Havana, Bryan (Paula) Bennett of Bloomington Nancy M. Holloway of Banner, Jo Payne of Canton, Lynn McGinnes of Canton and Karen Tippey of Texas, thirteen grandchildren, thirty-one great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers; Edgar J. Bennett and Gordon D. Bennett.

Donald worked at Pabst Brewing Company for many years. He was a member of Farmington Moose, Pheasants Forever, Canton VFW, Cuba Legion and the NRA. Donald was a veteran of the US Navy, serving during the Korean Conflict. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.

Services will be 11 am, Saturday, March 8, 2025 at Oak-Hines Funeral Home and Crematory in Canton, where visitation will be one hour prior to services. Rebecca Joanne Bills

Rebecca Joanne Bills, 57, of Canton, passed away at 9:31 AM on Sunday, March 2, 2025 at St Johns Hospital in Springfield, IL. She was born on April 3, 1967 in Canton, IL, to Richard and Nancy (Anderson) Myers.


She is survived by 4 children, Stacey, Christopher, Rosalie, and Dominac Bills; she raised several foster kids; several grandchildren; and two sisters, Patty Schrodt and Violet Harris.


She is preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Laura Seward.


Rebecca was a caring person who loved spending time with her family and grandkids.

Harriet Jane Baldwin

Harriet Jane (Meyer) Baldwin, 89, born October 17, 1935. Daughter of John and Geneda (Welker) Meyer, asked to go home to Jesus and did on February 28, 2025 at 7:15 AM at Clayberg Nursing Center. She resided in Smithfield from 1964 – 2021. She married Richard R. Baldwin in Lewistown on September 25, 1954, he preceded her in death in 2022.


She was preceded in death by her parents; 4 sisters, Virgina Loveland, Marilyn Waller, Joyce Gibson, Donna Chapman. She has one living sister, Bonnie Bedenbender of Rushville. She was preceded in death by one son, Raymond L. Baldwin in 1995.


She has 3 living children, Geneda Bauman of St. David, Carol (John) Kurtenbach, Kevin (Karen) Baldwin of Tennessee. Grandchildren, Josh (Mandy) Wallick, Marc (Melissa) Dams, Serenity Wallick, Caressa Postin, Lakendra (Drew) Derenzy, Clinton Baldwin, Great-Grandchildren, Gage and Sydney Wallick, Easton and Eliot Haepp, Abbott Postin, Amelia and Corrine Dams, Jayden Smith, Memphis and Blaize Wilson, Ella, Abby, and Evelyn Baldwin.


She loved county and gospel music, playing Rummikub, reading, going on outings, family dinners, cooking and butterflies. She worked at Clayberg Nursing Home as a cook for 7 years and Pioneer Seed Company for 3 years. She was adored by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, whom she loved to play with and spend time with. She was a wonderful generous loving kind big hearted, who always gave freely of herself with the greatest of love, she was a strong faithed woman. God bless you mom-grandma-great-grandma you will always be part of us, you finally made it home to Heaven and we will see you there. God bless Clayberg staff who were her extended family.


Graveside service will be held at 11 AM on Friday, March 14, 2025 at Baughman Cemetery in Smithfield, IL. Pastor Dean Potts will officiate. Cremation rites will be accorded through Sedgwick Funeral Homes & Crematory in Canton, IL. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Nazarene Church in Smithfield or Clayberg Activity Fund. Doris Spencer

Doris Spencer, 72, of Canton, passed away, Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at her home in Canton.

She was born in Chicago, on October 14, 1952, to Howard and Bernice James. They preceded her in death.

She is survived by her daughter Jessica (Tyler) Donelson, of Kansas City Missouri, and one brother Robert James.

She worked as a CNA at various nursing homes in the Canton area. She enjoyed to reading and playing pool.

Cremation rites will be accorded with Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton.

Carl “Sonny” D. Snyder, Jr.

Carl “Sonny” D. Snyder, Jr., 81, of Yates City, passed away at 4:11 a.m., on Thursday, February 27, 2025, at Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria, IL.

Sonny was born January 4, 1944, in Peoria, IL, to Carl D. and Agnes (Runyon) Snyder, Sr. Sonny married Lauretta Parli on March 9, 1968, at the United Methodist Church in Maquon. She survives.

Sonny is also survived by two children, Cindy (Jason) Chasteen of Oneida, and Scott Snyder of Yates City; two sisters, Linda (the late Larry) Henikoff and Judy (Todd) Kaiser; and three grandchildren, Allison, Alex, and Adam Chasteen.

Sonny is preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Robert (Cheryl) Snyder.

Sonny was a lifelong farmer. He served as the Fire Chief for Elba-Salem Fire Department from 1989 to 2002, as well as volunteered as an EMT for B.Y.E. Ambulance for many years. Sonny also enjoyed flying and was a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association.

Memorials may be made to the Elba-Salem Fire Department and B.Y.E. Ambulance.

A funeral service will be held at noon on Thursday, March 6, 2025, at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Elmwood. A visitation will be held the same day prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. to noon at the funeral home. Food and fellowship will then be held following the service at Snyder Farm.

Linda L. McFarlin

Linda L. McFarlin, 82, of Canton, passed away at 10:09 pm, March 1,2025 at the Loft in Eureka, IL. She was born on February 4, 1943 in Norris to Crayton and Mary (Locke) McFarlin.

Surviving are four children; Christina (Gary) Babcock of London Mills, Paul (Mary) Hasse of Maquon, Dianah (Randy) Hart of Canton and Jennifer Hasse of Pekin, eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Linda worked in social services for Graham Hospital in Canton for many years.
