Shawn Wayne Parther

Shawn Wayne Prather, 55, of Manito,IL passed away Thursday evening, July 20, 2023, at his home , after a short but courageous battle with cancer.

He was born April 10, 1968 in the Great Lakes Naval Base, Illinois to Wayne and Marlisa Procter Prather.
He married his soulmate and best friend, Jacqueline Rae “Jackie” Herget Prather in Pekin, Il on August 23, 2002.
In addition to his wife Jackie and his parents, Shawn is survived by four sons, Dustin Dylan (Katelyn) Prather, Marc Shawyne (Judy) Prather, all of East Peoria, IL, Shawn Wayne Prather, Jr. and Dylan Thomas Prather, both who still reside at the home, one sister, Toni Prather Abernathie, of Pekin, two grandsons, two granddaughters, and three nephews.
Shawn grew up in East Peoria, and graduated from East Peoria Community High School in 1986.
He was a gifted Graphic Designer and he and Jackie ran a small printing and graphic design business together in Manito. Shawn had many accomplishments over the years in his work and designs. He worked for numerous newspapers, his latest was the Mason County Democrat. He designed and managed the Manito website. He was a photographer and took pictures for many events including the Manito Popcorn Festival.
He had a great love for his family. Some of the happiest times were when his entire family would get together. He also enjoyed spending time on little trips with his wife and their two youngest sons.
His love for music was great. He would spend hours listening to his vinyl records, of which he had an intense collection. He enjoyed going to concerts with Jackie. His favorite band was the Beatles.
Shawn was an avid reader of books and had a great collection of old books which were his favorite to read. The authors Edgar Allen Poe and Dylan Thomas were his favorites.
He loved art and enjoyed Salvador Dali.
He loved his family farmhouse and this lended his love of animals, especially chickens. He enjoyed gardening and it gave him great satisfaction to see the fruits of his labor.
Cremation Rites have been accorded and, the family will receive friends, Wednesday, July 26, 2023 from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm, at the Good Shepherd Baptist Church, 32530 E Co Road 2180 in rural Manito
A memorial service will then be held at 5:00 pm following the visitation in the church, Pastor John Worsham will officiate.
