Karen Taylor

Karen Taylor, 66, of Canton, passed away Tuesday, March 28, 2023, at her home peacefully in her sleep.

She was born on April 12, 1956, in Peoria to Melvin “Mel” (Loretta) Harris, and Shirley (Dagit) Harris. She is preceded in death by her father, one son Jacob Taylor, and one grandson Mason Crnkovich.

Karen Married Tim Taylor on May 11, 1984, in Canton. He preceded her in death on January 3, 2018.

Karen is survived by three children, Karlee Crnkovich, Kolin (Katy) Crnkovich, and Trinity Taylor, one sister Pam Harris, two brothers, Greg (Stephanie) Harris, and Steve (Rose) Harris, five grandchildren, Mackenzie, Phoenix, Eden, Lyla, and Drew, and her dog Stella

Karen graduated from Canton High School in the class of 1974, where she was the pom pom captain.

Karen previously owned Total Fitness. She later was a fitness instructor at the Canton YMCA. She attended Wesley United Methodist Church and Farmington Methodist Church. Karen found comfort and friendship in support groups for widows. She was part of the “Road Widows” on Facebook and a local group “Lonely Souls”. She enjoyed camping, boating at Canton Lake and riding motorcycles with Tim. She enjoyed camping with her family at the Springfield Mile where they worked the gate on turn 4 during the race. Most of all Karen loved spending time with her family and attending all her kids and grandkids activities. Karen’s last goal in life was to be there to meet her youngest grandchild Drew when he was born in January.

A funeral service will be held at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton at 3:00p.m. on Saturday April 1, 2023. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. before the service. Cremation rites have been accorded a private burial of her ashes will take place at a later date at Greenwood Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or to Back on Track Racers Recovery.
