Rudolph S. “Rudy” Tompkins


Lewistown-  Rudolph S. “Rudy” Tompkins, 70, of rural Lewistown passed away at 2:15 PM Monday November 23, 2015 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

He was born August 19, 1945 at Canton the son of Paul and Mary (Beadles) Tompkins. Surviving is his wife of 46 years Sharon (Herrick) Tompkins and they were married on June 7, 1969 at Cuba. Also surviving is one sister, Maida Williams of Canton, Danny (Kathy) Herrick of Canton, who he considered a brother, Bonnie (David) Howerter of Lewistown, Vickie (Stephen) Churchill of Cuba, and Sandy (Allen) Harper of Lewistown, all of whom he considered his sisters, numerous nieces and nephews, including Linda Sneath of Dunlap and her children Aubrey and Allison, and numerous cousins, especially Mike (Jeannie) Beadles of Canton. He was preceded in death by his parents, one nephew, Adrian Williams, and one brother-in-law, Jerry Williams.

Rudy was a welder at Caterpillar East Peoria plant for 43 years. He graduated from Cuba High School in 1963. He served in the US Navy aboard the USS Hollister from 1963-1967. He was a member of the UAW Local 974 and the Lewistown American Legion Bishop Post 1. Rudy tried to live his life by Matthew Chapter 6. Rudy always considered others and therefore was a Gift of Hope donor.

As per Rudy’s wishes cremation will be accorded and there will be no services. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lewistown UMC Food Pantry. Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Lewistown is assisting the family with arrangements. On line condolences may be made at www.henrylange.com.
