Harrison Messer

Dunfermline – Harrison H. “Harry” Messer, 92, of Dunfermline, died at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, November 7, 2015 at The Elms in Macomb.
He was born on November 4, 1923 in Canton to Grover and Mary (Roggenbuck) Messer.
He married Agnes E. Conway in Canton on March 12, 1949. She preceded him in death on December 29, 2005.
Surviving are two children Sue Messer of Davenport, IA and Bill (Sandra) Messer of Macomb, three grandsons Paul (Jessie) Messer, Matt (Karen) Messer, and David Messer, all of Lewistown, four great-granddaughters, one brother Alan (Ardis) Messer of Bonfield, IL and Joan (Ronald) Bankes of Canton.
Harry was a coal miner, retiring from Consol Coal Co.
He was a proud U.S. Navy veteran during World War II, serving on the USS Bennington CVS-20. He was a member of the Lewistown VFW Post #5001.
Harry enjoyed fishing, hunting and playing cards. He was an avid Chicago sports fan, especially the Cubs.
Graveside services with military rites provided by his VFW Post will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, November 12 at Highbridge Cemetery in Dunfermline. Visitation will be private.
Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to Lewistown VFW Post #5001.
