Dale Broadfield


Yates City – Dale E. Broadfield, Sr., 91, passed away on Wednesday, November 4, 2015, at 5:55 a.m. at his farmstead where he was born.
He was born on March 28, 1924, in Yates City, to Lloyd  C. and Florence (Bowman) Broadfield.  He married Elizabeth (Lacey) Broadfield originally on July 21, 1956 in Galesburg and later married on May 8, 2007 at St. Matthew’s Church in Farmington, IL.  She survives.
He is survived by three children, Denise (Mike) Slater of Bartonville, Dale Broadfield, Jr. of Yates City, and Jean Ann (Stew Fuller) Ashton of Galesburg; three grandchildren, Allison Slater, Kyle Slater, and Stacy (Bill) Lotz; and one great-grandchild, Sophie Lotz.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Eldon Broadfield, who was killed on Corregidor in World War II.
Dale graduated  from Yates City High School in 1942.  He was a self-employed farmer throughout  his  lifetime.  He was also a member of the Peoria County Farm Bureau and St. Matthew’s Catholic Church in Farmington.
Funeral services will be held at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church in Farmington on Saturday, November 7, 2015, at 10:00 a.m., where visitation will be held one hour prior at the church.  Cremation rites will be accorded following the service.  Burial of ashes will be at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Farmington at a later date.
Memorials may be made to the Elba Salem Fire Department.
