Larry Fleisher


Yates City – Larry D. Fleisher, 79, of Yates City died at 12:10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 17, 2015, surrounded by his loving family at his home.
He was born April 30, 1936, in Rapatee, to Idabelle Fleisher.  He married Jean Allen on December 27, 1958, in Galesburg.  She preceded him in death on June 8, 1977.  He later married Cheryl G. Windish on January 21, 1979, in Elmwood.  She survives.
Also surviving are six children, Becky (Dale) Haahn of Eureka, Michele (Curtis) Price of Yates City, Wendy (Stephen) Chasteen of Galesburg, Cindi (Stuart) Marcotte of Yates City, Luke (Laura) Fleisher of Carterville, and Jeffrey Fleisher of Yates City; one brother, Garry (Sharon) Fleisher of Wataga; twelve grandchildren, Jeremy, Melissa, Alyshia, Andrew, Abbi-jo, Arec, Alyvia, Brycesen, Brennan, Ari, Finn, and Bing; two great-grandchildren, Keegan and Nora; many nieces and nephews who he loved very much; his best canine companion, Angel; and his coffee buddies at “My Place”.
He was preceded in death by his mother.
Larry graduated from Valley High School and worked at Caterpillar for 48 years, where he was best known as the “phone guy”.  He loved horses, Bingo, and family.  Larry loved to smile and never knew a stranger.  His favorite hobby: “Larrying on his tractor”.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude (My Place) or to Central Illinois Riding Therapy Club.
Cremation rites have been accorded.  A Celebration of Life will be held at noon on Saturday, June 20, 2015 at the Yates City Community Center.
