Betty Jane Henard


Canton – Betty Jane Henard, 86, of Canton died at 7:18 p.m. on Tuesday, June 2, 2015, at Renaissance Care Center in Canton.
She was born July 10, 1928, in Canton, to William and Cora Blanche (Kirkpatrick) Hocker.  She married Martin Henard on June 26, 1948, in Canton.  He survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Doris “Kay” Davis of Washington and Martie (the late Jim) Mummert of Riverside, CA; one sister, Jean Henderson of KY; four grandchildren, Tanya Leah (Bill) Johnson, James Ryan (Heather) Mummert, Melissa (John) Riordan, and Jeffrey Mummert; one great-grandchild, Ashleah Taylor Riordan; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one young brother, William; one brother who died in infancy; and two sisters, Eleanor Jacobs and MaraLee Lowe.
Betty was a homemaker and took great pride in keeping her home and surroundings tidy.  She was a great cook who enjoyed making things from scratch, and she loved her cats.  Betty was a skilled seamstress and worked at the Canton Overall Factory during the war.  She was a member of Temple Baptist Church in Canton.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 6, 2015 at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton, where visitation will be held one hour prior to services.  Rev. Curt Ebert will officiate.  Burial will be at White Chapel Memory Gardens in Canton.
Memorials may be made to Temple Baptist Church.
