John Gagliardo


Farmington – John C. Gagliardo Jr., 89, of Farmington died at 6:15 a.m. on Sunday, June 14, 2015, at Farmington Country Manor.
He was born July 4, 1925, in Canton, to John D. and Delphine (Maserati) Gagliardo Sr.  He was married to Leona M. (Yancick) Gagliardo for 65 years, before her passing on July 13, 2011.
He is survived by two children, Mark Gagliardo of Farmington and John Gagliardo of St. Louis; and one sister, Joy Ann Steiner of Peoria.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Michael Gagliardo; and twin daughters who died in infancy.
John was a manager at Caterpillar, retiring in 1990.  He was past Master and Secretary of the Farmington Masonic Lodge and a member of the Scottish Rite and Mohammed Temple Shrine in Peoria.  He was a former Farmington Alderman, past President of the Farmington Sanitary District, and past President of the Chicago Industrial Communications Association.
John loved to golf and was a former member of the Canton Country Club.  In recent years, he enjoyed watching baseball.  He was a member of the Farmington Rotary Club, Farmington, Moose Lodge and St. Matthews Catholic Church.  John had a great love for his family and friends and he will be deeply missed.
Cremation rites have been accorded.  A visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. on Thursday, June 18, 2015, at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton, where Masonic Rites will begin at 11 a.m.  Graveside services will immediately follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Farmington.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Farmington Rescue 1100, or to St. Matthews Catholic Church in Farmington.
