James Wheelock


Lewistown – James N. Wheelock, 74, of Lewistown, died at 10:17 p.m., Friday June 19, 2015 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
He was born on June 17, 1941 in Manito, IL to John Harrison and Mabel (Wilkins) Wheelock.
He first married Laura Smith, he then married Robin Curtis in Creve Coeur on November 24, 1984. She survives.
Other survivors include two children Carol (Blair) Garner of Idaho and Robert Wheelock of Cuba, one step-son Josh (Amber) Lane of Havana, 8 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, two brothers Dan Wheelock of Kankakee and Dave (Bea) Wheelock of Las Vegas, three sisters Ellen Hopkins of Bloomington, Esther (Richard) Perkins of Littleton, CO and Mary McKinley of Canton.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Ruth Perkins.
He was an electronic engineer for the Luxor Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, prior to retirement. He enjoyed playing his dobro and was part of the Gospel Strings Band. He also was a U.S. Air Force veteran.
Cremation rites have been accorded.
He attended the Cuba Assembly of God, where a memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, June 27. Pastor Andy Fife will officiate.
Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude or the American Cancer Society.
