She was born in Merritt Il on February 13, 1925, to Eugene and Della (Peacock) DeWitt. Eva had seven brothers and three sisters. Also preceding her in death is her husband James R. Gilchrist.
Surviving is, son Bob (Madie) Gilchrist, grandchildren, Todd Gilchrist and Stefany Wilkans, and great grandson, Jay Woith.
Eva is a Veteran of the United States Air Force serving her country from 1950 until 1953. She enjoyed traveling to Canada with her late husband during the summers and fishing. She loved to play golf and exercise until she was in her mid-nineties.
Cremation rites have been accorded by Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton. A private burial of her ashes will be buried with her husband at Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria.
