Eleanor Faye Pollitt

Eleanor Faye Pollitt, 94, of Canton, passed away on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, at Graham Hospital. She was born in Canton on February 2, 1930, to Frank Horace Hogon and Marguerite “Marie” (Downing) Munson. Eleanor married Charles Everett Pollitt on November 10, 1949, in Canton.


She is survived by two sons, Jeffery (Jane) Pollitt of Peoria and Patrick “Pat” of Canton: Four grandchildren, Shaun (Megan) Pollitt, Nicholas Pollitt, Eric (Teresa) Pollitt, and Laura (Michael) Crosson: seven great grandchildren; Dakoda, Kolton, Georgia, Geneva, Eden, Gabriel, and Madeline; nieces Barbara Ramsey of Basco, Illinois and Nancy (Baughman) Post of Missouri; nephew Chris Rider of Algonquin, Illinois; and caretaker Greg Hensler of Canton.


Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sisters, Ruby Munson Rider-Aubuchon and Charlotte (Munson) Baughman; daughter-in-law, Patricia “Pat” Campbell; niece Lu Ann (Rider) Jones; nephew Steve Rider; and her dogs, Alfred, Henry, and Abraham.


She graduated from Canton High School in 1948 and was an active member of the Reunion Committee.


She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Canton.


Eleanor attended Graham Hospital School of Nursing and graduated in 1976 as a Registered Nurse. She worked at multiple nursing homes.


She enjoyed reading, watching classic movies, bird watching, and spending time with friends and family.
