Carol R. Holaday

Carol R. Holaday, 79, of Manito, passed away Thursday morning, November 30, 2023, at OSF St.

Francis Hospital in Peoria surrounded by family. She was born August 30, 1944 in Somerset, KY
to the late Owen (Harold) and Julia (Gladys) Popplewell Wilson.
Carol worked as a podiatry assistant early in her career for Dr’s Ruch and Aune in Pekin. She
later worked in the business offices for OSF until her retirement.
She is survived by her life partner of over 30 years, Scott Walker of Manito, a son Gary (Paula)
Holaday, of Manito, two grandchildren, Kasey (Kevin) Molidor of Warrenville and Alain (Sarah)
Holaday of East Peoria. Also surviving are two great-grandchildren, Briella and Elizabeth
Molidor, a sister Angela (Gary) Powell, of Somerset, KY, the extended Walker family, and lastly,
she and Scott’s beloved cat Indy of 18 years.
In addition to her parents, Carol was preceded in death by a son, Michael Holaday and brother,
James Wilson.
Carol loved flowers and gardening. She had quite the green thumb and could grow anything.
She had a witty sense of humor and always kept everyone entertained. When faced with
adversity, Carol met all things in a positive manner and with grace. She was blessed with many
dear friends that she enjoyed spending time with and especially with her sister Angela. Carol
also loved her time with her partner Scott. They were quite the team when it came to
completing projects. They weren’t afraid to work on anything as long as they were doing it
together. Indy, the family pet, was her pride and joy. Indy spent many hours on Carol’s lap
providing comfort, especially during the past couple of months. Carol’s children, grandchildren
and great-grandchildren were the apple of her eye. She was known to her great
granddaughters as “Great Grammy Curls” and her presence in their lives, as well as everyone’s
lives, will be greatly missed.
The family will receive friends and family on Monday afternoon, December 4, 2023, at the
Maas-Hurley Funeral Home, 301 S. Washington St. in Manito from 1:00pm to 2:00pm with a
