Donna J. Shawgo, age 83 of Astoria, IL, passed away at 8:30 am on Thursday, April 29, 2021 at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville, IL. She was born on November 27, 1937 in Kerton Township, Fulton County, IL, the daughter of Ross C. and Mary L. (Alexander) Wilson. Donna married Bernard C. Shawgo on June 26, 1955 in Astoria, IL. He survives.
Also surviving are her daughter, Cindy (and Hollis) Shafer of Germantown Hills, IL, two sons, Doug (and Lori) Shawgo of Plant City, FL and Jeff (and Sonya) Shawgo of Astoria, IL, 8 grandchildren; Natalie (and Dusty) Fecht, Greg (and Victoria) Shawgo, Nicole (and Nathan) Koster, Teresa (and Kris) Decker, Noelle (and Matt) Bourne, Brad Shawgo, Nick Shawgo, and Jake (and Maddie) Shawgo, 14 Great-Grandchildren; Leah Koster, Noah Shawgo, Sophia Decker, Claire Koster, Simeon Shawgo, Norah Decker, Audrey Koster, Ruth Shawgo, Mariam Decker, Jude Fecht, Ingrid Bourne, Susanna Shawgo, Cormac Bourne, and Edith Fecht, one sister Shirley Deary of Minooka, IL and one brother Jerry (and Jobie) Wilson of Petersburg, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Donna assisted with the family business, Shawgo Memorial Home, for most of her lifetime. Her family was her priority and she loved them dearly.
She was a member of the Grace Bible Church in Astoria, where she was a former youth director, assisted in the children's ministry and played the piano and organ in her younger years.
Services will be held on Monday, May 3, 2021 at 11:00 am at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria. Pastor Ben Murray will officiate. Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 2 from 2-5 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Astoria Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Grace Bible Church Mission Fund or the Astoria Fire and Rescue Squad.
