Cliff Sagaser


Canton – Cliff Sagaser, 86, of Canton, passed away Saturday April 7, 2018, at 6:23 p.m. at his home surrounded by his family in Canton.

Cliff was born on April 20, 1931, in Temple North Dakota to Bernard and Dorothy (Williamson) Sagaser. They proceeded him in death.

Surviving are fourteen children, and over fifty grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Cliff was a veteran of the United States Navy where he served on the U.S.S. Bryce Canyon AD36 in the Korean War from 1950 until 1954, he took great pride in his service in the navy and being the ping pong champion on his ship.

Cliff graduated from the University of Illinois with a degree in civil engineering. After graduating he opened his own civil engineering and construction firm in southern Illinois, he then worked for the City of Centralia as the city engineer for ten years then he later worked for the City of Canton as the civil engineer, zoning official and the public works director from 1981 until 1991.

Cliff enjoyed going to auctions, goodwill shopping, playing his guitar, piano and singing and most of all spending time with his family, and friends at the Elm Street Cafe.

Per his wishes cremation rites have been accorded.
