Ransom “Randy” Strode

 
Ransom “Randy” D. Strode, 64, of Canton passed away at 11:10 PM on March 28th, 2018 at Giant Goose Ranch surrounded by his loving family and the nature he enjoyed watching. He was born on July 30th, 1953, in Canton, a son of Dwight “Curly” and Rosalie (Black) Strode. Randy married the love of his life, Sally J. Rogers, on August 16th, 1974, in Canton. She survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Erica (Jim) McCombs; one son Brian (Sarah) Strode of Canton; four grandchildren Nick and Elaina McCombs, Natalie and Payton Strode; one brother, Rusty (Theresa) Strode of Lewistown; two golden retrievers, Gabby Rose and Kelsie Grace; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and one nephew, Jason.

Randy graduated from Cuba High School in 1971. He graduated from University of Illinois pharmacy program in 1976. After graduating from the U of I, Randy was employed by Blessman’s Pharmacy later moving on to be the pharmacy manager/director at County Market Pharmacy in Farmington for many years. He was an avid sportsman, most of his life Randy could be found enjoying the outdoors through hunting, fishing and camping with friends and family.

Randy was a friend to everyone and enjoyed helping anyone who needed it. He was an active member in the Canton Evangelical Free Church, where he enjoyed being a part of the Men’s ministry and Sportman’s minstry. His love for the Lord, his family and the outdoors will live on in those he cared for most.

Services will be held at 10 AM on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at Evangelical Free Church in Canton, IL. Elder Bill Severt will officiate. Burial will follow the service at Cuba Cemetery in Cuba, IL. A visitation will be held from 5-7 PM on Monday, April 2, 2018 at Evangelical Free Church. Memorials can be made to Evangelical Free Church in Canton, IL.
