Russell Mannock


Canton – Howard “Russell” Manock, 89, of Canton, passed away at 8:00 a.m. on Sunday March 19, 2017 at his home.
He was born on August 6, 1927 to Arthur and Eva (Rodgers) Manock in Trivoli, IL
He married Betty Ann (Phillips) on June 27, 1954, she survives
Also surviving are three children Mitchell Tod (Friend Penny Edwards) Manock of Canton, Elisa Kay (George) Hackman of Heber Springs Arkansas, Douglas Eugene (Susan Crouch) Manock of Canton, eight grandchildren, Tyson (Kristy) Phillips, Maisie (Ron) Schroeder, Corie (Joe) Christian, Cody (Heather) Manock, Mickelene (Kalyn) Hoggard, Quinlyn Hackman, Gabrielle Manock, and Olivia Manock, and twelve great – grandchildren, Alicia Schroeder, Jacub Schroeder, Alethea Schroeder, Colton Phillips, Reese Phillips, Andrew Christian, Delanie Schroeder, Berkley Phillips, Brady Christian, Isley Manock, Avery Christian, and Teagan Phillips
Preceding him in death are his parents, Arthur and Eva Manock, three brothers Keith, Gale and Ralph Manock, and one sister, Virginia Knickerbocker
Russell served in the Army from 1945-1947 in WW II.
He worked as a carpenter and millwright.  He was a member of the Carpenter’s Union, Local #644 in Pekin, later the Local #183 in East Peoria and lastly #237 in East Peoria for a total of 50 years.
He was a member of the Odd Fellows, Skirt and Shirt Square Dance Club, Gold Star Square Dance Club, Lamoine Valley Square Dance Club and Shooting Stars Square Dance Club.
After his retirement he and Betty traveled through all 50 United States and took numerous cruises.
Cremation rites have been accorded.
Russell’s family will receive friends on Saturday, March 25, 2017, at the American Legion in Canton from 2-5 pm.
The family would also like to invite everyone to a celebration of Russell’s Life on July 1st, at his residence at 2 o’clock.
