Elsie J. Wilson


Smithfield- Elsie J. Wilson, 96, of Smithfield, passed away at 2:10 AM Thursday March 16, 2017 at Graham Hospital.

She was born April 30, 1920 at London Mills, the daughter of Walter and Emma (Emery) Smallberger. She married Robert Kimber Wilson on May 14, 1937 at Lewistown. He preceded her in death on October 21, 2002. She was also preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, Genevieve (Dale) Jones, Irene (Fred) Blaydes, and Florence Smallberger, two brothers, Keith (Geraldine) Smallberger, and Dale (Lorraine) Smallberger, and one great grandson, Chance Wilson. Survivors include five sons, Larry (Carol) Wilson of Atascadero, CA; Gary (Anne) Wilson of Ipava, Gordon (Mary) Wilson of Townsend, WI; Richard (Nancy) Wilson of Smithfield, and Thomas (Donna) Wilson of Flowery Branch, GA; 18 grandchildren, 53 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren.

Elsie enjoyed putting jigsaw puzzles together, and playing cards and dice with family and friends. She worked on genealogy for both sides of the family almost every day. Everything hand written. She followed Kimber all over the country for tractor pulls, and kept records of distances, weights, track conditions, and placement for each pull. Elsie would spend hours standing at her kitchen window watching the humming birds.

Services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday March 22, 2017 at Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Cuba, where visitation will be held one hour prior to services. Pastor Ellen Dodd will officiate, and burial will be in Baughman Cemetery at rural Smithfield.
