Elisabeth Rommel

CANTON- Elisabeth Rommel, 93, of Canton, passed away at 5:00 AM on Sunday, March 19, 2017 at Renaissance Care Center. She was born on July 26, 1923. Her family lived in Neustettin-Hammerstein which at that time was in the Province of Pomerania, Germany, the daughter of Wilhelm and Anna (Jeske) Schulz. She married Hans Rommel in 1951 in Germany, shortly thereafter they immigrated to the United States. Hans preceded her in death in 1999. Also, preceding her in death are her parents.
Surviving is one daughter, Evelyn (Brad) Oaks of Wee-Ma-Tuk.
Beginning in 1962, Elisabeth worked for Weston Woods Studio, a production company that made audio visual films based on well-known children books. She retired from the position of Director of Administrative Services in 1988. She continued working with Weston Woods on a limited basis for several more years. She eventually moved to Canton to be closer to her loving daughter, which she enjoyed traveling with. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading, bird watching, and nature. Elisabeth was known for her joy of cooking and baking. She was of the Lutheran Faith.
Elisabeth’s family would like to sincerely thank the caring and professional staff at Renaissance Care Center for the loving care.
Per the family’s request, services will be private. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Rev. Micah Garnett will officiate. Memorials can be made to Fulton County Humane Society.
