She was the daughter of Clare and Leona (Suydam) Hancock. She married William Pollitt on February 14, 1943. He preceded her in death on March 2, 1996. She was also preceded by two sisters, Bette and Shirley, one daughter Sue (Will) Warren of Summerville, South Carolina and one granddaughter Kathleen (Bruce) Snyder.
Surviving is her son Steve (Mary) Pollitt of Normal, Illinois. Five grandchildren, Shan (Lucy) Pollitt, Stacey Koppedryer, John Warren, one grandson in law Bruce Snyder and one step-granddaughter Beth (Brian) Carlson. Six great grandchildren, Mitchell, Robby and Zac Pollitt
Samantha Koppedryer, Katy lynn (Carter) Davis and Stefanie (Hunter) Ryg. Five great-great grandchildren, David Voss, Derek and Aria Ryg and Mandy and Stella Davis.
She was a long-time employee of Gateway Milling Co. After retirement she helped her husband on the farm. She graduated from Canton High School in 1941.
Elaine enjoyed sewing dolls and stuffed animals for her grandchildren. She was an avid reader, loved to travel and visit her family.
Cremation rites have been by Oaks Hines Funeral Home. At her request there will be no services. Burial of ashes will be in Walnut Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
