Dennis L. Nebel, 62, of Forest City, passed away at his home at 6:55 a.m. on Wednesday, January 28, 2026. He was born August 8, 1963, in Havana, Illinois, to John Nebel and Darlene Coen. He married Rebecca Duez on August 3, 1991, at St. John’s Lutheran Church at Topeka.Mr. Nebel is survived by his wife, Rebecca, of Forest City; father, John, of Forest City; five children: David Baughman, of Canton, Shane (Alyssa) Nebel, of Pekin, Brian (Ashley) Brewer, of Manitowoc, Wisconsin, Daniel Nebel of Forest City, and Christopher (Chrissy) Nebel, of Forest City; as well as several grandchildren. Also surviving are four siblings: Elisa Chapman, of Bishop, John Alan (Stephanie) Nebel, of Portland, Tennessee, Charlie (Cheryl) Coen, of Pekin, and Joseph Coen, of Havana. He was preceded in death by his mother.
Mr. Nebel had worked for Nostaw Inc., in Forest City, as a millwright, since 2007. He enjoyed motorcycles and driving his 1957 Chevy. He spent many hours at the drag strip, watching his son Shane race. He was always known for helping others. His happiest times were when he got to spend time with his grandkids.
Visitation will be held at Maas-Hurley Funeral Home, on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, also at the funeral home. Burial will follow the services at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery, near Topeka. Rev. Matthew Berndt will officiate.
