Albert "Deef" Stone

Albert “Deef” Stone, 82, of Lake Wildwood, IL, passed away at 3:36 PM on Monday, January 24, 2022 at Graham Hospital in Canton, IL. He was born on July 4, 1939 to Vernie and Eva (Hyatt) Stone. He married Becky (Lance) Bushell on February 14, 1981 in Peoria, IL. She preceded him in death on September 24, 2018.

Above all else, Deef was our rock, loving hard and giving selflessly through our good times and bad. He will be remembered by most for his ornery, playful nature, being quick to give everyone he loved a “special” nickname that was all their own. He worked and retired as a security guard for Caterpillar. He volunteered with the Logan-Trivoli Fire Department and served as a board member in Lake Camelot. Deef enjoyed fishing with his buddies, the beauty of nature and God’s creation, and all wildlife. He especially delighted in feeding the deer up-close in his yard and the birds on his deck, with the occasional surprise of a hummingbird that might perch on his finger or coffee cup.

Deef is survived by one daughter, Lynnia (Tom) Oatman of Lewistown, IL; step-daughter, Jennifer (Dave) Clarke of Dubuque, IA; eight grandchildren, Edward (Carolyn) Barker, Albert (Sarah) Barker, Benjamin Barker, Ezekiel Barker, Noske Hoover, Lindsey (Brandon) Richey, Hayley Clarke, and Logan Clarke; eight great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; and one sister Betty (Bud) Burton.

He is also preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Janet (the late Mark) Hoover; and one sister, Lonnie (the late Don) Freeman.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Cremation rites will be accorded with Sedgwick Funeral Homes & Crematory in Canton, IL. Memorials may be made to The A.R.K. Animal Shelter. 477 State Route 26 Lacon, IL 61540. Phone: 309-246-4275. Website: https://thearkanimalshelter.org/donation/ To leave an online condolence you may go to www.sedgwickfuneralhomes.com
