Emma Alberta Postin

Canton – Emma Alberta Postin, 100, of 250 South Main St. in Canton, passed away at 8:20 am, Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at Heartland Health Care Center in Canton.  She was born on October 29, 1916 in Trivoli, IL. to Robert and Emma (Oaks) Severt.
Surviving are two children; Linda “Katie” Postin of Canton and Larry “Doc” Postin of Maquon, one sister Verna Mae Porter of Canton, six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother Russell Severt, and three sisters; Dorothy Harrison, Lois Lingenfelter, and Velma Urly.
A woman of faith and the heart of her family, she loved caring for those closest to her. She was a loving sister and doting mother…a precious grandmother and great-grandmother…a dear friend and neighbor. A consummate homemaker and care giver, Alberta worked as a custodian for the Yates City School District and at Brown’s Snappy Service Café in Canton for many years.  Also, up until the age of 85, she worked as a Home Maker for Lutheran Social Services, providing home maker services for the “elderly” in the area! She attended Covenant Community Church in Canton and was a member of the Rebekah’s.
It’s comforting to know that Alberta has had a long and full life. Now her work here is done. She received a call, an offer you can’t refuse, that comes with a reunion with family and friends she has not seen in a long time. Where she will be socializing, dancing and reading to her heart’s content. Music, laughter and love are guaranteed.
The family is deeply grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers and support in many heart-felt forms from too many people to name individually, but including the staff and residents at Maple Manor in Canton, Heartland Healthcare Center in Canton, Graham Hospital in Canton and Help At Home.
The family will receive friends during a special Celebration of Life on what would have been her 101st birthday, from 2-4 pm, Sunday, October 29, 2017 at the Maple Manor Community Room, 250 South Main Street in Canton. Cremation rites have been accorded.  Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton is in charge of arrangements.
