Bobby Vaughn


Vermont – Robert E. “Bobby” Vaughn Jr., 62, of Vermont passed away at 12:03 a.m. on Friday, February 17, 2017, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
He was born April 4, 1954, in Fairbanks, Alaska to Robert E. and Janice (Hughes) Vaughn Sr.  He married Susan J. (Selph) Vaughn on March 19, 1977.  She preceded him in death on July 4, 2016.
He is survived by his two daughters, Haily J. (Jed) Rhoades of Canton and Karly D. (Charlie) Hite of Industry; three brothers, Randy (Brenda) Vaughn of Table Grove, Craig (Cindy Heller) Vaughn of Table Grove, and Chad Vaughn of Ipava; four grandchildren, Gaven and Lexie Hite of Industry and Will and Eli Rhoades of Canton; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Bobby was a lifelong farmer and with his wife, Susan, they owned/operated Vaughn Farms in Vermont.  In his younger years he had worked for AMAX Coal at the Sun Spot Mine, and later for the Ayrshire Land Company alfalfa plant, where he was a talented welder.  Bobby loved farming and loved his family.  He cherished the time he was able to spend with his daughters and especially enjoyed the time he spent with his grandchildren on the farm.  Bobby also enjoyed classic cars and was currently restoring his 1965 Chevy Impala convertible.  He was currently serving his fourth term as the Road Commissioner for Vermont Township.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, February 21, 2017, at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria, where visitation will be held Monday evening from 4-7 p.m.  Burial will be at Vermont Township Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Vermont Fire Department or Table Grove Fire Department.
Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton and Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria are coordinating arrangements.
