Larry D. Rilea


Lewistown – Larry Dean Rilea, 80, of Lewistown, formerly of Liverpool, IL, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 29, at Heartland Health Care Center in Canton. Larry was born on January 22, 1937 in Liverpool, IL, the son of Arnold and Sylvia (Riley) Rilea.
Surviving are four children: Echo Wilson, Larry Daniel Rilea, Marcena Gabrielson, and Kathy Rilea; three step children: Ron Mutton, Crystal Stegens, and Chip Stegens; ten grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; two sisters:  Lowane Coppenbarger, and Beverly David; one brother:  Fred Rilea.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon, one sister, Judy and one brother, Rick, and his parents.
Upon graduation from Lewistown High School in 1956, Larry served in the U.S. Navy for 5 years. He was a skilled welder, as well as talented artist and musician. He loved animals and his beloved dog, Deacon, and had a particular passion for finches. He is remembered as a reserved, gracious, accepting and humble man.
Larry was a member of His River of Life Church in Liverpool, and member of the Lewistown VFW Post# 5001, and an avid Cubs Fan.
Per Larry’s wishes cremation rites will be accorded through Sedgwick Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1995 North Main St. Canton. A Memorial Service will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at His River of Life Church in Liverpool. Rev. Sheldon Westerfield will officiate. A luncheon will follow at the town hall in Liverpool, IL. Burial of ashes will be in Liverpool Cemetery following the services, with military honors conducted by United States Navy.
