Marion Orendorff Tarr


Canton – Marion Orendorff Tarr, 90, of Canton, passed away on January 29, 2017, at 11:59 a.m., at Graham Hospital in Canton.
She was born on October 19, 1926 in Canton to John R. and Josephine (Thomas) Orendorff.  They preceded her in death.
She married Paul S. Tarr on November 18, 1945 in Canton.  He preceded her in death on October 19, 1981.
Surviving are her children, Joanna (Jim) Carter of Canton, Paula (Tom) Dearing of Poplar Grove, IL, Jim (Chris) Tarr of Bloomington, grandchildren Jennifer (Keith) Kobetitsch, Matthew (Michelle) Dearing, James C. (Julie) Tarr, Carrie Bruketta, Jessica (Brad) Eskridge, great grandchildren, Bryce and Austin Kobetitsch, Elizabeth and Andrew Dearing, Bailey, Blake and Faith Bruketta, Hadley and Havenley Eskridge, Step grandchildren, J.D. “Buddy” (Christy) Carter, Heidi (Joey) Hart, Victoria (Derek) Salazar, Erika (Jack) Dylke, Kelly Bechtelheimer and step great grandchildren, Winifred, Serena, Carter, Gibson, Jordan, Levi, Marcus and Zakary.
Also preceding her in death are two brothers, John and Dick Orendorff and three sisters, Annabelle Graham, Jo Keaton and Katherine Martens.
Marion taught piano for over 60 years.  She played the piano and organ at the South Park United Methodist Church and Evangelical United Bretheren Church and later played at the First Baptist Church for over 30 years.  
She volunteered at FCRC for the music program once a week for over 50 years.  She volunteered for the music program at Sunset Manor and accompanied for many school activities, women’s clubs and community events.  She was one of the original 6 members of the Baton and Dance group at the Canton Senior High School.  She developed a comedy routine called “Aunt Marion” and she performed it at many community events, church events, clubs and reunions.  She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Canton.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 2, 2017, from 5-7:30 pm, at the Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton.  Funeral services will be Friday, February 3, 2017, at 11 am, at the funeral home.
Burial will be at the Greenwood Cemetery in Canton.  The Rev. Monroe Bailey will officiate.
