Evelyn June Chaney


Dunfermline – Evelyn June Chaney, 85, of Dunfermline, passed away at 5:05 AM on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at Renaissance Care Center. She was born on January 28, 1931 in Canton, IL to Thomas and Jennie (Franciskovich) Clark.

Surviving are five children, Edgar H. “Sonny” (Rose) Thomas III of Bryant, Ellen Jo (Ron) Frasier of Canton, Liz (Larry) Ernst of Canton, Ed A. Thomas of Canton, and Robert “Bobby Lee” (Leisa) Thomas of Bartonville; 21 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Stephen Clark of OK; five sisters, Janice Archibeque of Arizona, Jeanetta Malone, Joanna Pratt, Alice Smith, and Betty Fitch all of Illiniois ; and a grandson, J.J. Montgomery whom she helped raise.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, and step-parents, Robert Mitchell, and Betty Schuman, two children, Edith Kay Lyons, and Eric Gene Thomas, and one brother, August Clark, and two sisters, Lula Mae Burgess, and Joyce Rollin.

Evelyn worked at Tempo Department Store, Havana Manufacturing Works, and was a CNA. She was a member of the Eagles and Moose Lodge in Canton, IL. Evelyn was a daily visitor of Elm Street Café in Canton, she loved to go to the boat with her friend Rosie Wells, and check on Geraldine Shores, bringing her food whenever she cooked. Evelyn loved all holidays, and sending out a card to almost everyone she knew, but most of all she loved spending time with her family, not a day went by that she didn’t think or worry about them.

Services will be at 1:30 PM on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at Sedgwick Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1995 N. Main St., Canton, where a visitation will be from 12:30-1:30 PM. Rev. Kevin VanTine will officiate. Burial will follow the services at Greenwood Cemetery in Canton. Memorials can be made to The First Baptist Church Food Pantry.
