Jimmy “Jim” Dale Towery, 70, of Havana, passed away at 3:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 28, 2025 at Arcadia Care in Havana. He was born on August 19, 1954 in Canton, Illinois to James and Charlotte (Ogden) Towery. He married Rita Rosich on November 13, 1971 in Havana.Jim is survived by his wife, Rita Towery of Havana; daughter, Jenny Towery; grandchildren, Carly Hall and Luke Baker; siblings, Marsha Bachand and Dan (Margie) Towery; siblings-in-law, Connie Hoffman, John (Kathy) Rosich, and Rick (Leigh Anne) Rosich; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Howard Towery; brother-in-law, Ted Bachand; and niece, Sarah Towery.
Jim worked for Caterpillar for more than 30 years before his retirement. He was a member of Ducks Unlimited, and was an avid duck, deer, and goose hunter and fisherman. He was a huge Chicago Cubs and Bears fan and enjoyed gambling, traveling, and a good fish fry. He loved riding his Harley with a group of friends called “the Grey-Haired Harley Riders”. Jim’s greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends. He always enjoyed life to the fullest.
Cremation rites have been accorded and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Memorial donations may be made in Jim’s name to the Sarah Towery Scholarship at the University of Illinois Springfield, Ducks Unlimited, or Mason District Hospital Auxiliary. Online condolences can be left for his family at www.hurleyfh.com.
