Jean Pettet

Jean Elizabeth Pettet, 92, of Canton formerly of Lewistown, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 26, 2025, at Graham Hospital in Canton. She was born on January 10, 1933, in Rushville Illinois, a daughter of Carl and Martha (Keeran) Young. She married Robert Lee (Bob) Pettet on July 18th, 1952, in Springfield Illinois. He preceded her in death on September 3, 1995.

Also preceding her in death were her parents, 6 brothers, 1 sister, 1 grandson, 1 step grandchild and 1 step great grandchild and one stepson (Clayton).

Surviving is one daughter Deborah (Rik) Monti of St. Petersburg, Florida and one son John (Maria) of Arizona, 2 stepdaughters Marsha (Fred) Jones of St. David, Lottie (Roger) Schmidt of Gilson, Illinois. One brother Larry (Susie) Peoria. 7 step grandchildren and 13 step great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She lived most of her life in rural Lewistown until moving to Canton, she loved children, her family and her friends. She served on the election board for many years and volunteered as she could for the American Red Cross.

Per Jean’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded through Oaks-Hines in Canton. Graveside services and the burial of ashes will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lewistown on Saturday, February 15, 2025 at 11 am.

A celebration of Life gathering will be held later. Memorials can be made to St. Jude and the Red Cross.
