Thomas McLean Neil

Thomas McLean Neill, 74, of Canton, passed away at 2:52 am, Saturday, February 11, 2023 at Red Oak Memory Care in Canton. He was born on December 3, 1948 in Peoria to Archie McLean and Margaret Jean (Lesko) Neill. Tom married Lorraine E. Jackson on December 5, 1981 in Fulton County. She survives along with one son Jeffrey Zehring of Canton, sister Barbara (Jon) Meline of Bloomington, two grandsons; Michael Zehring and William “Billy” (Kris Ann) Zehring both of Fargo, ND and one great grandson Mason Thomas Zehring of Fargo, ND.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents.

Tom was an Army veteran serving during the Vietnam War. He was a union millwright, owner/operator of both Canton Skate Land and Neill’s Basement Water Control. He was a 46 year member of the Elks, loved to go snowmobiling, golfing, operating heavy machinery, traveling (especially to Las Vegas and Florida), trains and light houses. He enjoyed life to the fullest, always being in good mood and making others happier. Tom had a nickname for almost everyone. His favorite thing was spending time with friends and family, especially his grandsons.

Graveside services will be 11 am Saturday, February 18, 2023 in Greenwood Cemetery in Canton. Memorials can be made to either the Fulton County Humane Society, St. Jude Children’s Hospital or First Christian Church in Canton.
