He was born on February 14, 1943, in Mattoon, Illinois, to John W. and Helen (Martin) Williams. They preceded him in death.
He married Lorene (Kaffer) Williams on July 24, 1976, in Smithfield. She preceded him in death on July 30, 2010.
He is survived by four children, Melinda (Claude) Youngren, Mark (Morgan) Williams, Roy (Jenny) Robinson, and Allen (Julie) Williams, one brother, Charles “Chuck” (Diana) Williams, ten grandchildren, and twelve great grandchildren.
John is a Veteran of the United States Navy. He was a member of the Cuba American Legion, and the Cuba Christian Church. He retired from Caterpillar in East Peoria in 1999. After retirement he worked around Cuba at Day and Palin, Casey’s, and at the school. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, horses, Mountain Man black powder, and enjoyed a good glass of wine. John enjoyed coaching his kids in their childhood and loved all family and friend gatherings. Most of all he loved spending time with all his family.
A funeral service will be held at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton on Saturday, March 4, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. visitation will be held Friday, March 3, 2023 at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Immediately following the funeral burial with Military Honor’s will be held at the Cuba Cemetery. A luncheon will be held following the services at the cemetery at the Cuba American Legion
Memorials may be made to Fulton County Humane Society or to the Cass Putman Rescue Squad.
