Betty A. Rosecrans

Betty A. Rosecrans, 95, of Peoria, formerly of Elmwood, passed away at 11:23 a.m., on Saturday, February 18, 2023, at Independent Village in Peoria. She was born October 20, 1927, in Princeton, IL, to Ernest and Margaret (Yarrington) Burress. She married Thomas Rosecrans on June 26, 1949, in Tiskilwa, IL. He preceded her in death on February 19, 1989.

Betty is survived by three children, Nancy (Kenneth) Bush of Port Hope, MI, Daniel (Laura) Rosecrans of Albuquerque, NM, and William (Janet) Rosecrans of Kickapoo; one sister, Elaine Bowers; fourteen grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and one great-grandchild on the way.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; one stillborn child; and one brother, Charles Burress.

Betty attended Methodist School of Nursing and was an Army Cadet nurse. She worked at Methodist Hospital. She also attended Bradley University where she obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing. She also worked for the State of Illinois Public Aid. She enjoyed attending the Brimfield’s boys and girls basketball games. She was a longtime member of over 50 years at the Elmwood Baptist Church.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Friday, February 24, 2023, at the Elmwood Baptist Church. A visitation will be prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the church. Burial will immediately follow at Elmwood Township Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to B.Y.E. Ambulance, where she was a volunteer paramedic for many years, and the Elmwood Baptist Church.
