He was born March 5, 1937 at Canton, the son of Lewis E. and Charlotte (Sims) Miller. He married Thelma Lafary on March 9, 1957 at Smithfield. She survives with four children, Rhonda (Greg) Garrett of Cuba, Rod (Lisa) Miller of Smithfield, Mark (Amy) Miller of Cuba, and Angie (Jay) Tompkins of Cuba, nine grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, and one sister, Janice (Tom) Wilson of Arthur. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one son in law, Rick Bannister.
Harold was a lifelong farmer in the Smithfield area. He was a member of Brock United Methodist Church, Fulton County Farm Bureau, and Illinois Pork Producers. He was a 4-H leader for the Smithfield Flying Eagles many years and had also served as the swine superintendent at the Fulton County Fair. He was the recipient of the Fulton County outstanding young farmer award in 1962.
Harold was an avid sports enthusiast, and was a part of the Cuba High School football chain gang for many years, and loved going to the IHSA State basketball tournaments. He was also an avid Bradley Basketball fan.
Services will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday February 14, 2023 at Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Cuba where visitation will be held Monday from 5-7 pm.
