Marlin G. Livers, age 85 of Canton, Illinois, passed away at 10:37 a.m. Monday, February 6, 2023 at the Sunset Manor Nursing Home in Canton. He was born on August 27, 1937 in Table Grove, Illinois, the son of Gale O. and Hazel R. (Weber) Livers. On November 2, 2006 he married Betty Ann (Trone) Stewart in Canton. She survives.
Also surviving are three step-sons; William (and Kimberly) Stewart of Seal Beach, California, Joseph (and Sherry) Stewart of Glasford, Illinois and James Stewart of Brea California, four step-grandchildren: Luke Stewart, Jessica Stewart, Jacob Bialeschki and Charlotte Bialeschki and one sister Joyce Svob of Canton.
He was preceded in death by an infant brother and his parents.
Marlin was an Army veteran, serving in Germany. He worked at Caterpillar in East Peoria, Illinois, where he retired.
He was a member of the UAW Local #974 of East Peoria and a longtime member of the Gear Jammers Club, Canton, Illinois Chapter.
He volunteered at the Food Pantry at the First Baptist Church in Canton for many years. He loved cars and racing of all kinds. He especially loved his Mustang Boss 429.
Marlin was very civic minded, looking to help out wherever and whenever the opportunity arose.
Services will be held on Saturday, February 11th at 11:00 a.m. at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria. Pastor Matt Haberman will officiate. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service time. Interment will be held in the Bader Cemetery. Memorials in memory of Marlin can be made to the St. Jude Midwest Affiliate, Peoria, Illinois.
