Also surviving Mike are his children, Christopher Adam Clardy of Peoria, IL; Michelle (Jay) Clardy Dobbs of St. Louis; two grandchildren, Addison and Theodore "Theo" Dobbs; and his four siblings, James Patrick "Pat" (Carol) Clardy of Farmington, Jean Catherine "Cathy" Busch of Pekin, Theresa "Terry" Ann Boughton of Farmington, and Dana Christine (Scott) Hoerr of Hanna City. Preceding him in death were both of his parents.
As a child Mike was an athlete and avid hunter/fisherman. He was an All-State football player for Farmington, and played college football at Knox College where he was also a member of the Beta Theta Pi fraternity. After school he worked on the Chicago Northwestern Railroad before purchasing the Farmington Shopper Newspaper in 1977 with his wife Cheryl. He and Cheryl owned and operated the Farmington Shopper and Tucker's Printing in Galesburg until their retirement in November 2020. During his life, Mike will be remembered for his devotion to his wife, family, and willingness to always help others in need.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2023 from 2:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M at Sedgwick Funeral Homes and Crematory in Canton, IL. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 P.M. with Rev. Kevin VanTine officiating. Burial of ashes in Oakridge Cemetery will take place at a later date. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or to the Farmington Fire Protection District and Rescue 1100.
