Cole M. Stobaugh

Farmington-Cole M. Stobaugh, 22, passed away on Wednesday, May 6, 2020 at his residence.

He was born on July 15, 1997 in Peoria.

Surviving are his parents, Tania (Chad Treadway) Suit of Farmington, Mitch (Kelly) Stobaugh of Canton, one daughter, Octavia Stobaugh, his maternal grandparents, Candy and Dave Carlton of North Pekin, one brother, Austin Stobaugh of Yates City, two sisters, Magic Stobaugh of  Farmington and Ayri Stobaugh of Canton.

Cole enjoyed fishing, camping and anything outdoors.

Cremation rites will be accorded through the Oaks-Hines Funeral Home and Crematory in Canton.  There will be no services.

Patricia M. “Pat” Anderson

Farmington – Patricia “Pat” M. Anderson, 82, of Farmington, passed away at 9:10 PM on Monday, May 4, 2020 at her residence. She was born on February 17, 1938 in Peoria, IL to Daniel Stear and Ruth Williams. She married David Anderson on August 1, 1981 in Farmington, IL. He survives.

Also surviving are three children; Dale (Patricia) Adkins of Farmington, Rhonda (Mark) Dawson of Farmington, and John (Helen) Adkins of West Peoria; son-in-law, David Johnson of Chillicothe; fourteen grandchildren; and twenty-two great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Joni Johnson; and one grandson, Christian Adkins.

Pat was a member of the Women of the Moose Lodge and the Women’s Auxiliary American Legion Post 140 in Farmington. She enjoyed crafting and loved to be with her family.

Barbara Lea Routson

Lewistown – Barbara Lea Routson, 90, of Lewistown, passed away at home in her sleep on Tuesday, May 5, 2020. She was born on March 31, 1930 in Trivoli, IL to Glen S. and Grace F. Johns. She first married Norman A. Nickerson; he has since passed. She later married Chester E. Routson on September 9, 1967 in Canton. He died on March 28, 1999.

Surviving are two granddaughters, Stephanie B. Christians-Kalin (Louis) of Bolingbrook, IL and Emily G. Garbisch (Jason) of West Bend, WI; four great-grandchildren, Kristina L. Kalin of Dickinson, ND, Anna G. Kalin of Bolingbrook, IL, Lauren G. and August J. Garbisch both of West Bend, WI; sister, Evelyn Butkus of Morrison, IL; sister in law, Joanne; and adopted great-grandson, Robert W. Kalin of Bolingbrook, IL.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; daughter, Lynn A. Berg; grandson, Joseph M. Christians; brother, Clifford Johns; and her lifelong childhood friend, Ruth H. Essex.

Barbara was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She cherished her time spent on the farm and we are happy she lived there to the end. Barbara was known for her amazing cooking and baking. Before she stopped driving, many friends received a plate full of sugar cookies. She loved the spring with her beautiful flower arranging, morel mushroom hunting, and hummingbirds. She was known to adopt a stray cat or two. There were many memorable moments with the Masonic Lodge 104 and Spoon River Valley Shrine Club.

Cremation rites will be accorded with Sedgwick Funeral Homes & Crematory in Canton, IL. Burial of ashes and graveside service will be held at a later date at Trivoli Cemetery in Trivoli, IL. Patricia L. Robinson

Havana-  Patricia L. Robinson,75, of rural Havana passed away at 8:17 PM Thursday April 30, 2020 at Mason District Hospital in Havana.

She was born April 13, 1945 at Detroit, MI; the daughter of Ernest and Ida (Belville) Nixon. She married William Roger Robinson on September 1, 1962 at Lewistown. He survives along with four sons, William “Kenny” (Rose) Robinson of Roseville, Richard (Leslie) Robinson of Gallatin, TN; Michael “Scott” (Susan) Robinson of Lewistown and Christopher (Teresa) Robinson of Little America, thirteen grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, five sisters, Leona, Ernestine, Helen, Margie and Dorothy and one grandson, William Kyle Robinson.

Patricia worked as a cook, cashier and was a homemaker. She also served on the Isabel Township Board, the Election Committee, and Scenic Drive Committee and was a volunteer at Mason District Hospital gift shop. She enjoyed spending time with family, sewing, crafts and traveling to Michigan.

Cremation will be accorded. A graveside service will be held at a later date at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lewistown. When the service date and time are set the memorial home website will be updated. John Daniel “Dan” Walter

Canton – John Daniel “Dan” Walter, 87, passed away at 8:13 AM on Monday, May 4, 2020 at Sunset Nursing Home. He was born on April 9, 1933 in Columbia, MO to Russell and Verne Virginia (Oesterhaus) Walter. He married Elizabeth Jane Gaskill on July 3, 1966 in Canton, IL, she survives.

 Also surviving are three children, Kevin (Tania) Walter of Danvers, IL, Brian Walter of Janesville, WI, and Adam Walter of Springfield, IL and two granddaughters, Hope and Noelle.

 Dan was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers.

 Dan received his bachelor’s degree in horticulture/floriculture from the University of Illinois. From 1957 to 1993 he worked at and then ran the family business, Walter’s Flowers in Canton, IL. In 1989, he began working at the Illinois River Correctional Center as the instructor of Horticulture, he retired in 2008. He enjoyed traveling with his family, watching classic movies, antique cars, astronomy, and was an avid gardener his whole life.

 Dan was a U.S. Air Force veteran; he was on active duty as a 2nd lieutenant from October 1955 to October 1957 and then in the reserves as a Captain from 1957 to 1967. He also served as president of the Canton Rotary Club in 1978.

Judith L. Lefler

Cuba- Judith L. Lefler, 85, of Cuba, passed away at 7:49 AM Saturday May 2, 2020 at Graham Hospital.

She was born October 4, 1934 in Lewistown, the daughter of Arthur and Laura "Louise" (Wright) Morgan. She married Lyle D. Lefler on December 21, 1953 at Lewistown. He preceded her in death on November 27, 2009. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one grandson, Joshua Scott, one great grandson, Justice Steele-Coleman, and one sister, Joyce Stillman. Survivors include three children, Dirk (Lisbeth) Lefler of Littleton, Michael Lefler of Carbondale, and Toni (Darrell) Scott of Smithfield, five grandchildren, Heidi (Frank) Yerbic, Daniel (Marie) Lefler, Deborah Lefler, Benjamin Lefler, and Lynn Webb, 9 great grandchildren, Joseph Petersen, Michael Petersen, Alex Yerbic, Ezra Lefler, Shania Patton, Cheyenne Patton, Kayeann Patton, America Patton, and Kiana Griggs, three great-great grandchildren, one sister, Jinne Marshall of Atkinson, and many nieces and nephews.

Judy retired from the Illinois Dept. of Public Aid as a case worker. She had been a volunteer at the Humane Society of Fulton County and Pet Fix Alliance. In her free time, she enjoyed going to auctions and collecting glassware, antiques, and collectables. Judy was an avid horsewoman who enjoyed attending horse shows, parades, and horse races. She got the greatest pleasure enjoying the country life and watching the horses in the pasture, especially in the spring with the new babies. Her biggest thrill was at the 1988 Breeders Cup watching her favorite racehorse, Alysheba. She loved her grandkids and great grandkids and was a skilled canasta player. 

Due to the covid-19 restrictions, a private family graveside service will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lewistown. Connie Helms

Canton-Connie Helms, 61, passed away Thursday, April 30, 2020 at her residence in Canton following a long battle with cancer.

She was born on August 11, 1958 in Peoria to William and Norma (Harmon) Wyatt.

Surviving is her children Emily (Josh) Dosier of Canton, Harmon (Kasey) Helms of East Peoria, Chase Helms of Washington, Ryan Helms of Canton, five grandchildren, Mariah Dosier, Maci Dosier, Hannah Helms, Izabella Paranto, Charleigh Helms and one uncle Jim (Barb) Harmon of Peoria.

She was preceded in death by her husband Bruce Helms, her parents, one brother, Bob Wyatt, one sister, Brenda Wyatt and one infant brother and sister.

She graduated from Bradley University with a Bachelor Degree in Early Childhood Education.

She worked for Tazewell County Health Department, TCRC-Early Intervention, Community Action Head Start and retired from HGS.  She enjoyed working with children with developmental delays until she was no longer to do so due to complications from cancer.

She loved Christmas, shopping, cookouts with her family and spending as much time as she could with her grandkids.  She had a huge heart and always tried to help anyone who was in need.  Most of all she loved her kids and grandkids more than anything.

Cremation rites have been accorded according to her wishes through Oaks-Hines Funeral Home and Crematory.  A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
