He was born on October 21, 1979 at Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii, a son of Michael J. and Sherry (Snyder) Legenos. Michael married his cherished wife Elizabeth Hay on October 5, 2024 in Peoria. She survives.
Michael is also survived by his mother, Sherry (Robert) Marsden of Placerville, California; his father, Michael J. Legenos of Port Charlotte, Florida; three sisters, Megan (Craig) Knapp of Norton, Kansas, Meredith (Tyler) Renaghan of Winnetka and Kay (Lucas) Chapman of Half Moon Bay, California; two brothers, Ian (Cassandra) Marsden of Santa Clara, California and William Marsden of Palo Alto, California; maternal grandparents, Robert G. (Julie J.) Snyder of Chillicothe; paternal grandmother, Julie Legenos of Shelton, Connecticut; favorite auntie, Deb (Michael) Damore of South Burlington, Vermont; three uncles, Martin (Linda) Legenos of Wallkill, New York, Mark Legenos of Madison, Connecticut, and Jeff (Cindy) Legenos, East Berlin, Pennsylvania; mother-in-law, Linda Hay of Pekin; brother-in-law, Doug (Mary) Hay of Pekin.
Michael found the greatest joy in being the proudest uncle to Isabella, Charlotte, Conlyn, Odin, Axel, Oakes, Harris, Sebastian, Frances, Charles, Louise, Jack, Harper Lee, Dillion, Lauryn, Evan, Madison, and numerous cousins.
He spent the last ten years as a passionate caregiver, and prior to that spent his career in the technology industry.
Michael was an avid fan of the Oakland A’s (against aunte Deb's best wishes) , Chicago Bears, Golden State Warriors, and San Jose Sharks. He enjoyed fishing, glamping, surfing in California, world history, military history and equipment.
Nothing brought Michael more joy then being the best "Bunkle Michael" and "Manny" to all his most beloved nieces and nephews. Endless bear hugs, sleepovers, and the most iconic "Chucky Dance" from Goonies, are just a few amazing memories we will hold onto forever. Michael Michael Motorcycle was his greatest childhood nickname. He was the most incredible brother, an out of this world friend, and a Grand Champion Napper. Michael was a builder of things, moments, and memories that will forever be with the people he loved most.
Michael loved volunteering with the Humane Society of Fulton County and being a foster pet dad. He had a contagious personality that infected anyone who had the privilege to meet him. His smile lit up any room that he entered. Michael will be greatly missed by all that met him. He was of the Methodist Faith.
Cremation has been entrusted to Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. A gathering celebrating his life will be held at a later date.
