Mary J. Smith

Mary Joyce Smith, 85, of Havana, passed away on Tuesday, August 25, 2026 at her residence surrounded by her family.

She was born on November 5, 1940 to Paul and Mary Ann (Pherigo) Kuhlman.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Shirley Ann Gilpin, Connie Smith, two brothers, David Kuhlman and James Kuhlman who died as an infant. Also preceding her in death are three sons, Rudie White Jr, Tracey White and Darren White.

Surviving her are two sons, Sean (Sharon) White of Tuscaloosa, AL, Preston White of Havana, two daughters, Penny Berg of Havana, Cathy Goforth of Havana, nine grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

Mary loved working in her yard, having yard sales and going thrifting and traveling. She was a longtime member of the Church of Christ in Havana. She loved her church and helping with the dinners. Most of all she loved spending time with her family.

Cremation rites have been accorded per her wishes through the Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton and a celebration of her life will be held at a later date at her church.

Memorials may be made to Church of Christ in Havana.
