Charles R. Meyer

Charles R. Meyer, 74, of Delavan, passed away at McNaughton Park, near Pekin, at 7:50 p.m., on Monday, August 3, 2026. He was born March 17, 1952, in Pekin, Illinois to Dean and Madelyn (Gilmore) Meyer.

Mr. Meyer is survived by one brother, Kenneth (Vicky) Meyer, of Arkansas; aunt, Dolores Gilmore, of Morton, Illinois; cousins: Gail Meyer, of Hanna City, Illinois, Patric Gilmore, of California, Tom Guengerich, of Manito, Kathy Gilmore, of Manito, Anne Schneider, of Manito, Lyn Hunter, of Oregon, Illinois, Ross Gilmore, of Florida, Laura Gilmore, of California; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and four cousins: Mike Gilmore, Susan Guengerich, Gwen von Seeger, and Jim Gilmore.
Mr. Meyer was an accomplished long-distance runner, having completed many marathons, including the Chicago Marathon, St. Louis Marathon, and the Boston Marathon on two occasions, as well as other ultra-marathons. He enjoyed gardening around his home. He collected classic Indian Motorcycles and primitive antiques. He was a graduate of Forman High School and later Illinois State University. He worked for Caterpillar Inc., for many years, as a metallurgist, retiring in May of 2015.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 10, 2026, at Maas-Hurley Funeral Home, in Manito, at 2:00 p.m., with visitation held two hours prior to the services. Burial will follow the services at Meadowlawn Cemetery, in Manito. Rev. David Atterberry will officiate.
