Eugene "Gene" A. Csicsak

Eugene (Gene) Csicsak, 81, of Canton, passed away on January 3, 2026. He was born on June 11, 1944 in New York City to Anthony and Dorothy (Krushina) Csicsak. He married Violet Cumming. They were together for 47 years. Gene is predeceased by Violet, his parents, and his sister, Barbara (John) Lacey. He is survived by three children: Paulette (David) Rockir of Prescott, AZ, Lisette (Darrel) Hughes of Canton, and David (Jeanette) Csicsak of Litchfield Park, AZ and two grandsons: Ryan Csicsak and Wesley Hughes.

Gene grew up in Queens, NY. After graduating Thomas A. Edison High School, he joined the U.S. Coast Guard serving at stations on eastern Long Island. Upon completion of his service, he worked as a machinist at Grumman Aerospace, and as a mechanic at other locations, until he opened his own machine shop. In the mid-1980s, he transitioned careers working as an electrician, then becoming a general contractor building several houses. At the turn of the 1990’s, he transitioned careers again becoming a private estate manager working at several locations in New York and New Jersey until his retirement in 2009.

He loved to laugh, was good for a joke, and enjoyed time with his family. An avid shooter, he enjoyed competitive shotgun shooting throughout his life.

Cremation rites have been accorded with Oaks-Hines Funeral Home and Crematory in Canton there will be no services.

Vernece Homan

Vernece Homan, 97, of Farmington, formerly of Trivoli, passed away at 1:54 PM on January 3, 2026 at Carle Health Proctor Hospital in Peoria. She was born on November 2, 1928 in Cazenovia, Illinois, a daughter of Albert and Hazel (Crank) Redenius. She married Lyle Homan on April 24, 1948 in Peoria. He preceded her in death.


Also, preceding Vernece in death were her parents, grandson, Benjamin Homan, two brothers, four sisters, and son-in-law, Gary Thomas.


Surviving are her loving children, Alberta Thomas of Bartonville; William E. (Joyce) Homan of Trivoli; Marvin (Michelle) Homan of East Peoria; Donna (Chris) Newport of Glasford; Dennis (Sonia) Homan of Trivoli; ten grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.


Vernece was a devoted homemaker and dedicated member of the Trivoli United Methodist Church for 64 years, with passions that included quilting, crocheting, baking, tending to her flowers & garden, and singing in the church choir.


Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, January 8, 2026 at Anderson-Sedgwick Funeral Home in Farmington, where visitation will be held from 9:00 AM until the time of the services. Pastor Bob DeBolt will officiate. Burial will follow the services, and take place at Penn Ridge Cemetery in Trivoli. Patricia Kay Bosley

Patricia Kay Bosley, age 75, passed away peacefully on Jan 1, 2026 at The Loft in Canton, Illinois, with her loving husband, Richard Bosley, nearby.


Patricia was born on January 23, 1950, to O.R. and Anna Louise Grady. She was raised on the Grady Christmas Tree Farm, where she grew up alongside her siblings and developed a lifelong appreciation for family, hard work, and the simple joys of home.


She was preceded in death by her parents, O.R. and Anna Louise Grady, and her siblings Richard Grady, Alan (Carol) Grady, Janet Garcia, and Mary Lee Grady.


Patricia is survived by her devoted husband, Richard Bosley; her children, Jason Becker and Jessica Becker, step daughter Kazia (Kirk) Trujillo; and her cherished grandchildren, Daisy and Lily Becker, and Kylan and Bryce Trujillo. She is also survived by her siblings Robert (Emily) Grady, Ella Lou (Larry) Little, and Sara (Luke) Starcevich, along with many extended family members and friends who will miss her deeply.


Patricia graduated from Farmington High School in 1968 and went on to earn her degree from Eureka College in 1973. She built a career in banking, where she was known for her dedication, professionalism, and kindness to coworkers and customers alike.


Patricia married Dana Becker in 1973 and had two children. Then in 1995 she moved to Colorado where she met Richard and they married Dec 29, 2001 and shared many wonderful years together and enjoyed camping, traveling, and spending time with each other. They moved back to Illinois in 2015 to be closer to family.


Above all, Patricia was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. Her warmth, strength, and quiet grace will be remembered always by those who knew and loved her. Pats family would like to invite family and friends to a celebration of life and meal at the Trivoli Township Building, on Cramer road on Friday the 9th at 1 pm.Family asked in lieu of flowers the family ask that donations be made to Logan Trivoli fire department. Lennie E. Dowell

Lennie E. Dowell, 81, of Manito, passed away at Mason District Hospital, in Havana, at 11:56 a.m., on Friday, January 2, 2026. She was born October 29, 1944, in Peoria, Illinois, to Clarence and Clarice (Martin) Donaldson. She married Donald Dowell at the Forest City Community Church, in 1963. He survives.

Mrs. Dowell is survived by her husband, Don, of Manito; two children: Susan Dowell, of Morton, and Daniel (Marsha) Dowell, of Pekin; two grandchildren: Drake and Jaycee; as well as one sister: Carolyn (Donald) Hailey, of Port St. Lucie, Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Mrs. Dowell was a member of Forest City Community Church. She was a bookkeeper for Forman and Midwest Central Schools, in Manito, for over thirty-five years. She enjoyed working crossword puzzles, reading, Snapchatting with her grandchildren and coloring.
A memorial service will be held at Maas-Hurley Funeral Home, in Manito, on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., with visitation one hour prior to the services. Rev. Frank Brozenac will officiate.

Craig Horner

Craig Horner joined The Kingdom of Heaven peacefully at his home in Manito on January 1st, 2026. Born June 26, 1971 in Decatur, IL to Rodney and Jeanette Horner, Craig moved to Manito with his family in 1979 when his father Rodney began working at Jake Wolf Memorial Fish Hatchery. Craig took his passion and fascination with how things work to Illinois Central College where he earned an Associate’s Degree in Mechanical Design. He worked for many years as a contract designer with Caterpillar in Mossville and in Aurora locations where his love of all things mechanical were put to great use. An avid cyclist, Craig could be found cruising the back roads of Mason County training for long haul rides with fellow cycling enthusiasts over the years. Some of his favorite stories involved meeting great people along cycling routes and exploring nature’s beauty on the open road. Craig had a great sense of humor. Whether it was dressing as one of his favorite movie characters, Cousin Eddie, from “Christmas Vacation” for Halloween or quoting from his favorite Monte Python Movie “The Quest for the Holy Grail”, or sharing many other funny movie quotes, Craig found humor in most everything. His other passion was gaming. He was an avid gamer and shared many wonderful experiences with his gaming community friends for many years. Craig was an active member of the Manito Community United Methodist Church where he supported many of the church’s community service efforts regularly including providing meals to those in need. Craig is survived by his brothers Glen Horner (61) of Pekin and Mark Horner (59) of Lindenhurst, IL and sister-in-law Laura (Wilson) Horner (59) and nieces Sarah (Horner) Reusche (30) of Mundelein, Il and Ashley (Horner) Johnson (27) of Greeley, Co.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., at Manito Community United Methodist Church, with visitation one hour prior to the services. Burial will follow the services at Meadowlawn Cemetery, in Manito. Rev. Steve Oaks will officiate.
