Lois B. Hess

Lois B. Hess, of Cuba, passed away on Friday, May12, 2023, at Graham Hospital in Canton.

She was born on December 3, 1933 in Banner Township to Hobart and Barbara (Grissom) Fidler.

She married Charles “Hank” Thum on April 8, 1950 and later married Alfred “Al” Hess on December 18, 1986. They preceded her in death.

Surviving are her children, Charles “Chuck” Thum of Tennessee, Joseph (Holly) Thum of Smithfield, Penny (Dave) Grady of Kansas City Missouri, Ray (Gretchen) Thum of Smithfield, Aaron (Veanna) Thum of Canton, step children, Gregory (Trisha) Hess of Pekin, Lisa (Chris) Bradfield of Kansas City Missouri, nineteen grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.

Also preceding her in death are five brothers, Delbert, Dewey, Dean, Lewis and Leonard Fidler and two sisters, Lela Sheckler and Lila Huff.

Lois was a member of Shields Chapel United Methodist Church and was an amazing cook. She was famous for her chicken and noodles and homemade pies. She worked in the food service industry and enjoyed cooking, Shopping and planting flowers. Lois’ greatest joy was spending time with her family, cooking meals and snuggling all the babies through the years.

A funeral service will be held at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at 11 am, with a visitation held one hour prior at the funeral home.

Burial will follow at White Chapel Memory Gardens in Canton.

Memorials may be made to Compassus Hospice or Shields Chapel church.
