Delbert O. Clayton


Delbert O. Clayton, 93, of Havana passed away on Friday, June 3, 2022 at Sunny Acres Nursing Home in Petersburg. He was born on March 11, 1929 in Bluff City, Illinois in Schuyler County to LeRoy and Mary (Crable) Clayton. He married Deloras “Dorey” Ray on September 9, 1956. She preceded him in death on April 2, 2011.
Delbert is survived by his daughter, Lori (Dennis) Morgan of Havana and son, Logan (Liz) Clayton of Auburn, Illinois. He adored his three grandchildren, Megan (Matt) Livermore of Mapleton, Chase Morgan of Chicago, and Alec (Amy) Clayton of Auburn and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Deloras, parents, and siblings, Gerald, Cecil, and Allen.
Delbert was a Korean War veteran serving in the Army and was a member of the Astoria Legion Post #25. He retired from the Ohio River Company and later worked construction. His favorite pastime was collecting clocks. He was also a member of the Havana Church of Christ.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 6, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Hurley Funeral Home in Havana, with a visitation one hour prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Pastor Bill Boyce will officiate. Burial will follow the service at Hickory Cemetery in Fulton County.
Memorial donations may be made in Delbert’s name to the Havana Church of Christ or donor’s choice. Online condolences can be left for his family at www.hurleyfh.com.
